One Team. . . One Dream . . .
Five Star Home Services Announces New CFO
The “Dream Team” has arrived at Five Star Home Services
Attorney, award-winning business leader joins executive team at Five Star
COLUMBUS — When the right people are in the right places, the saying goes — “teamwork can make the dream work.”
An essential missing piece of the Five Star Home Services executive team was recently filled, as company CEO Christian Rattin announced hiring a long-time, decorated business leader known throughout Central Ohio.
Rhea Cunningham, a licensed attorney and award-winning business leader with decades of experience, has accepted the position as the company’s new Chief Financial Officer.
With Cunningham stepping into the new role, officials at Five Star say the “Dream Team” has arrived.
Five Star Home Servies is a family-owned company dating back to 1972, with dozens of locations throughout Central and Southwest Ohio. The company offers high-quality plumbing, HVAC, and electrical services in Greater Columbus, Greater Dayton, and Greater Cincinnati and is heavily involved in humanitarian efforts throughout the communities it serves.
“We now have the team in place that will take our company into the future,” Rattin said. “We are excited to welcome Rhea Cunningham as our new CFO, and we look forward to more good news in the near future as we continue to innovate and disrupt the market in the home services industry.”
Cunningham brings a wealth of experience and other accolades to the team at Five Star as the company transitions into another season of growth in the Buckeye State. Her resume includes nearly two decades of experience in business and finance, a license to practice law and numerous other notable achievements.
Born and raised in Columbus, Cunningham is a 2010 Capital University Law School graduate. She has a bachelor’s degree from The Ohio State University and an M.B.A. in finance and accounting from Regis University in Colorado.
In 2020, she was named “Woman of Influence” by Columbus Business First. Smart Business Magazine also recognized her in 2021 with their “Smart 50 Award.”
Rattin said the addition of Cunningham to the company’s executive team is the final missing piece in what he described as the “Dream Team.”
“A mutual business connection introduced me to Christian,” Cunningham said. “I saw everything Five Star is doing to make a positive impact in the communities we serve, and this felt like the right place to be. Essentially, I saw spaces I could occupy well within the company while enjoying the work.”
From a professional perspective, Cunningham’s career has been very dynamic. She’s held essential positions in finance, business consultation, and human resources while working as an attorney and chief financial officer at other Central Ohio area companies.
“My background has given me the opportunity to experience a lot of issues and challenges many businesses face,” she said. “Just about anything under the sun that can happen in a business, I’ve seen it and I have experience around it.”
Cunningham described businesses as “dynamic creatures” that must be cared for properly.
“I have a deep care and concern for the impact I make on the world around me,” she said. “Because the work I do ultimately helps to feed families, playing my part in maintaining and growing a thriving company is of the utmost importance.”
Management at Five Star said they’re excited about Cunningham joining the team during this pivotal time. Previously, in January of this year, Rattin took over as CEO. Matthew Musselman is the current Chief Operations Officer.
“The ‘Dream Team’ has arrived at Five Star Home Services,” Rattin said. “This is the team that will take Five Star into the future. We look to continue to innovate and disrupt the market in home services. We are getting Rhea into her role and we look forward to more good news coming in the near future.”
