Five Star Home Services Serves as Platinum Sponsor at Hope’s Hub Most Important Breakfast
XENIA—Among the many organizations making a positive impact in our communities, the Hope Hub of Xenia stands out for the difference it is making in the lives of countless local women transitioning out of addiction.
As a “Profit On Purpose” company, we at Five Star Home Services are excited about our ability to sponsor amazing causes like the Hope Hub. Saturday morning, we were able to serve as the platinum sponsor for Hope Hub’s annual fundraising event, “the Most Important Breakfast,” at the Athletes in Action Banquet Center in Xenia.
Here, our CEO Christian Rattin, our COO Matt Musselman, and many other team members joined hundreds of community members as we all gathered for a breakfast and program. In addition to the fundraiser and breakfast, highlights of the evening included community leaders who spoke, and numerous success stories from women who testified about how the Hope Hub (and God) has changed their lives.
Xenia Mayor Sara Mays, who is also a newly elected Greene County Commissioner, spoke about the impact the Hope Hub’s founders, Melissa “Missy” Adams Shelley and Cynthia Stemple are having in the community.
Local Pastor Greg Delaney was the keynote speaker.
“Not a lot of people like to talk about addiction,” Delaney said. “I have the wonderful privilege of serving our governor by working with faith-based organizations that are working to fight addiction. The Hope Hub addresses the holistic needs of women, which includes mind, body and spirit. This is essential for finding the path away from the bondage of addiction. Hope Hub creates a space for grace.”
As a local recovery advocate, Delaney gave heart-wrenching statistics about addiction during the event.
He said 44 million people in our country are struggling with substance use disorders, which means 1 in 13 people battle it, 1 in 3 families are impacted, and 1 in 5 families live with mental illness in Ohio.
“That’s 58 million people nationally,” he said. “Additionally, 50,000 Americans die of suicide each year. Addiction is a disease of isolation. The opposite of addiction isn’t sobriety. The opposite of addiction is connection.”
